University of Colorado, Boulder – BA in History

  • Early 20th Century America- Researched back 6 generations to gather information on the early 20th century immigrant experience including: life of subsequent generations, life in America, immigration process and quarantine, life prior to immigration, motives for emigrating from home country.
  • Violence in 19th Century America- Scoured through 1st hand accounts, newspaper clippings, and scholarly data on the Sand Creek Massacre to prove that the massacre of Native Americans outside Colorado City was a direct result and continuation of the Civil War in Western territory.

University of Arizona, Tucson- MLIS

  • Help establish and maintain organization’s Facebook page

  • Request donations from patrons that tour facility and exhibits

12/2007- 8/2012: Arizona Border Collie Rescue

  • Fostered over a dozen dogs in our home, rehabilitating injuries and behavioral problems while adjusting dogs to a normal life with their new home
  • Event coordinator from 2008-mid 2011. I scaled back my time commitment once my daughter was born
  • Authored the Rescue’s newsletter to 300+ volunteers and previous adopters from 2010- mid 2011
  • Spoke to the public at events about border collies, their particular needs, and the goals and purpose of the rescue that spans the entire state of Arizona and takes in approximately 200 dogs a year
  • Attended Arizona wide volunteer functions of behalf of the rescue to ascertain what is needed to participate in individual events
  • Created new ideas and fundraisers to try and increase the money available to help more border collies

Internship:

08/2006-10/2006: Coloradan’s for Fairness Campaign: Intern Business Outreach Coordinator

  • Went door to door meeting with business owners and gathering their public support for the referendum
  • Explained a complicated and heated issue in a simple and non-threatening way in order to gather public business support
  • Obtained more signatures than any other district office in Colorado
  • Sat in at public events and explained our side of the issue to the community as well as took public criticism from those who felt passionately against what we were working towards without becoming angry or combative
  • Able to hold a discussion with someone who vehemently disagreed with me in a respectful manner
